How to read TWLO funding

Funding is the periodic payment between longs and shorts that keeps a perpetual contract anchored to its index price. A positive rate means the contract trades above the index and longs pay shorts; a negative rate means shorts pay longs. Persistent extremes signal crowded positioning and often precede sharp unwinds.

Hyperliquid, Lighter, and RISEx settle every hour while Binance, Bybit, OKX, and BloFin settle every 4 or 8 hours. The 8-hour and annualized columns put every venue on the same footing. The annualized number is an extrapolation of the current interval, not a realized yield.

What is the TWLO funding rate?

Perpetual futures have no expiry, so exchanges use a periodic funding payment to keep the contract price close to the spot index. When the TWLO funding rate is positive, longs pay shorts; when it is negative, shorts pay longs. Each venue settles on its own schedule, which is why this page normalizes every rate to an 8-hour and annualized figure.

Why do the 8-hour and annualized rates differ from the exchange app?

Exchanges display the rate for their own interval: hourly on Hyperliquid, Lighter, and RISEx, and every 4 or 8 hours on Binance, Bybit, OKX, and BloFin. Proliquid multiplies each interval rate to an 8-hour equivalent and extrapolates that to a year so venues can be compared side by side. The annualized figure assumes the current rate holds, which it rarely does.

How does TWLO funding rate arbitrage work?

A funding arbitrage holds a long position on the venue with the lowest (or most negative) funding rate and an equal short on the venue with the highest rate. The trade is market neutral and collects the spread between the two payments. Fees, slippage, margin on both venues, and the risk that the spread flips all reduce the realized return.

How current is this data?

Rates, open interest, and volume come from Proliquid's exchange aggregator and refresh about once a minute when the page is loaded. The Proliquid funding screen streams the same feed live and lets you sort every market by rate, spread, and open interest.
