For $100,000 of total traded volume, Phantom's 0.05% builder fee is $50. Proliquid's 0.02% starting fee is $20. That leaves a $30 difference in the builder component.
Phantom's published feesPhantom$100,000 × 0.05% = $50
Proliquid · VIP0$100,000 × 0.02% = $20
Builder-fee difference$50 − $20 = $30
Opening $100k and closing $100k doubles each result. The exchange fee is additional in both cases.Check the numbers
Sources and methodology.
Published rates, with dates.
We use builder documentation for Phantom, Insilico, Axiom and Proliquid. MetaMask, PVP and Based use the fee column in CoinGecko's builder research, a May 25, 2026 snapshot published May 26. Those historical reference rates are not a live quote.
MetaMask's help center notes that fees vary by Rewards level. The comparison does not subtract cashback, referral benefits or temporary discounts for any app.
Compare the same fee component.
Hyperliquid's builder-code docs explain per-fill app fees. Exchange fees depend on execution, volume and market rules. The native Hyperliquid interface adds no third-party builder fee.
OpenChainBench measures builder revenue and effective fees from onchain fills. Effective fees reflect the mix of actual trades and discounts, so we do not substitute them for the published rates in this table.

Builder fees, exchange fees and where your volume fits.
What are Hyperliquid builder fees?
A builder fee is an app's charge on the fills it routes through Hyperliquid. It is added to the exchange trading fee. Hyperliquid lets users approve a maximum fee for each builder and revoke that permission later. The perp builder-fee cap is 0.1%.
What are Phantom perps fees?
Phantom documents a 0.05% app fee for opening, adding to, reducing or closing a perp position. That is $50 per $100,000 traded, before Hyperliquid fees. Proliquid's starting builder rate of 0.02% costs $20 for the same volume, a $30 builder-fee difference.
What is the MetaMask Hyperliquid fee?
CoinGecko's May 25, 2026 snapshot lists MetaMask's builder fee at 0.1%, or $100 per $100,000 traded before exchange fees. MetaMask's help center says perps fees vary with Rewards level. This comparison uses the published 0.1% reference rate without Rewards discounts. Check your order preview for your actual fee.
How do I get Proliquid's 0.005% builder fee?
The 0.005% rate applies at VIP4, which requires $100 million in eligible linked-wallet volume. The starting VIP0 rate is 0.02%. Eligible volume combines Proliquid 30-day builder-fill volume with additional recent Hyperliquid volume, subtracting overlap. The calculator holds your selected tier fixed; it does not determine VIP eligibility.
Do I pay builder fees when I open and close a position?
Yes, builder fees can apply to both entry and exit fills on perpetuals. A $100,000 entry followed by a $100,000 exit is $200,000 of traded volume. Enter $200,000 in the calculator for that round trip. Fees use the traded notional, not just the margin you deposit.
Is Proliquid the cheapest way to trade on Hyperliquid?
The native Hyperliquid interface adds no third-party builder fee. Among these seven apps, Insilico and Axiom have lower reference rates than Proliquid's starting tier. Proliquid's VIP3 and VIP4 rates are lower than those listed here. Proliquid includes news, screeners and advanced execution without a subscription. Exchange fees and other trading costs remain separate.
